Paul Makin has been in the media for over 40 years, starting off as a cine-cameraman.
His foray into journalism happened in the Seventies at Radio 5KA in Adelaide where he was the resident "roving reporter".
He then headed to Sydney where he hosted the highly rated Nightwatch program and was the first reporter to arrive at the Granville Rail Disaster in 1977.
Paul was one of the senior journalists on the top rated Willesee at 7 program, where he became a national media identity.
From the daily grind of current affairs, Paul then went back into radio and found himself at Newport Rhode Island for Australia's successful tilt at the America's Cup.
"That was a highlight," says Paul. "Standing on Bondy's boat and seeing that winged keel come out of the water was a moment I will never forget."
Since then, it's been a combination of radio and television, both in Sydney and Adelaide, that's kept Paul busy.
But his return to Adelaide full-time and to the team at Today Tonight is just fantastic, says the seasoned reporter.
"I just love being back and getting stuck into the local stories that our viewers care about. Bring it on!"
