Sophie has worked in television since 1998, and having gained experience with the BBC, joined Today Tonight in 2004.
Sophie completed her Communications degree at Griffith University in Brisbane in 1997, and started working for ABC radio soon after. Sophie's first television job was for Prime in Coffs Harbour in 1998.
After nine months a position became available with the same network in Newcastle. During her two years in Newcastle Sophie tackled stories across a range of issues, and spent a great deal of time on picket lines during mining and textile disputes. She also moonlighted as a weather girl when required.
In 2001 Sophie moved to Sydney to pursue opportunities in the Seven newsroom, but after just two months in Sydney, Sophie's fighter pilot husband was posted to the UK for an exchange with the Royal Air Force.
Within a few months of arriving in England Sophie was reporting for local news bulletins at the BBC and trying hard to play down the Aussie accent.
She made the transition to current affairs reporting on a weekly BBC programme called Inside Out, and spent the next two and a half years travelling the globe in pursuit of stories.
Whether it was motor racing in Los Angeles, a murder mystery in Holland, airport security in Yorkshire or hot air ballooning in Barcelona - nothing was out of bounds.
Shortly after arriving back in Australia in July 2004 Sophie returned to Seven, joining the Today Tonight team in Sydney.
In her spare time Sophie enjoys diving, skiing and adventurous holidays, which most recently involved cycling half the length of Vietnam.
