Jonathan Creek

Born in Melbourne, Jonathan Creek was initially attracted to the media industry while still a student at Melbourne High School.

After completing a degree at Monash University, Jonathan moved to Tasmania to work as a general reporter at WIN television. While there, he covered both state and federal elections, as well as the 1998 Sydney to Hobart tragedy, in which six people died and 55 had to be rescued.

Jonathan first joined Today Tonight in Adelaide as a reporter in 2000. After two years, he moved back to Melbourne to take up a reporting position at Seven News.

Over the next six years, Jonathan reported on some of Melbourne's biggest stories, including the gangland wars, the Snowtown murder trials, the Hinch sex allegations, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and the Katherine floods in the Northern Territory.

In 2004, he won the Quill Award for Investigative Journalism for his exclusive story on Melbourne's New Year's Eve public transport crush, where thousands were left stranded in the city. The aftermath of Jonathan's report resulted in the Victorian Government ordering public transport be run all night.

Jonathan returned to Today Tonight earlier this year, as one of the program's Melbourne-based reporters. Recent stories have included: the Flemington Police Station's Kokoda initiative, with youths from the local commission flats, and an exclusive on former millionaire John Elliott's return to the business world.

Away from work, Jonathan enjoys cycling, triathlons and open water swims.
