With supermarket meat prices rising and farmers getting paid almost the same as 10 years ago, we have found the best places to get the best cut for your dollar.
Thanks to the strength of the Aussie dollar, exporters like Andrew McDonald have opened their doors allowing us to buy top quality export meat at up to half the price of the supermarkets.
"What I've arranged through our suppliers here in Australia is to offer a range of beef that is certainly better than anything you can find in the supermarket," he said.
"It's not just beef, there's chicken, lamb, pork, even small goods.
If you buy in bulk, the savings over a year can be huge.
Locals have known about the shops for years. Robbie Shaw operates Boutique Meats at Esk, north-west of Brisbane.
"My beef is grazed bred in the country through my own little accredited feed lot, it goes to the local abattoir and butcher shop," he said.
"It's cut to how you want it cut up, it's all delivered to you so it's no hassle to you.
"You do have to buy in bulk which means either a quarter, a half or a whole beast, but the more you buy the cheaper it is."
