We are going to let you into the secret strategies of supermarkets and discount department stores that will help you save up to 30 per cent on your normal shopping bill.
Tuesday at the supermarket means empty aisles and shorter queues but you might not save so much money.
Steve Wooten from The Bailey Group said Tuesday is the quietest day of the week to shop.
"You want to avoid the hustle and bustle, Tuesday is great," he said.
"You can get in and out quickly, but there are better days of the week to shop in terms of specials."
The cheapest supermarket shopping day of all is Friday.
"By Friday, retailers have rolled out all their specials for the week including their fresh produce and meat specials that come late in the week in time for the weekend BBQs," Steve said.
"So Friday is the best day to shop.
"Up to 50per cent off on the late week specials. The best thing about shopping on a Friday without doubt is the great assortment of fresh produce and meat specials."
At the major supermarkets, we spotted terrific Friday savings.
Weekend pork shoulder roast saved $3.50, a loaf of bread saved 20 cents and chicken drumsticks were $2.98/kg, a saving of $1.61/kg.
But what is the best day of the week to shop at discount chains like K-Mart, Big W and Target?
"Discount department stores try to ensure they have enough stock for the entire week but we recommend for the hot sellers you get in there on the Thursday," Steve said.
